Portland Maine is Infested...... With RATT!!!

It was a trip back in time to 1984 Thursday night when my buddy of Skelton Crew Studios and I went "round and round" with 80's metal favorites; RATT! It was an absolute BLAST - they played every song I wanted to hear; "You're in Love", "Lay It Down", "Back For More", and of course, "Round and Round"! The band was tight, Stephen Pearcy's vocals were on point and Warren DiMartini was scorching on guitar! My stupid phone ran out of charge before I could take any video, but here's "Round and Round" shot by someone else;

The Black Panther Trailer is Here!

I think it's safe to say that the Black Panther was pretty damn impressive in last year's "Civil War", so it's no surprise that he would get his own solo film. Stuck in development Hell for years and linked to several potential actors, Wesley Snipes being the most prominent, it was Chadwick Boseman who finally landed the coveted role. The Black Panther made his debut waaay back in 1966 in Fantastic Four #52.

From Comic Vine; "T'Challa is the Black Panther, king of Wakanda, one of the most technically advanced nations on Earth. He is one of the top intellects and martial artists in the world, a veteran of the Avengers, and a member of the Illuminati. Using his powers and abilities, he has pledged his fortune, powers and life to the service of mankind". Wakanda is also  one of a handful of places where vibranium (the near-indestructible metal that Captain America’s shield is made of can be found). The Black Panther comes to theaters February 16!

"Under The Shadow" is Absolute Shite....

It's rare that I post about a film solely to bash it, but in this case I will happily make an exception. Under The Shadow takes place in 1988 in war-torn Tehran during the.... "sigh"..... y'know, I'm not even going to explain the plot to you because that would give it a measure of merit that it doesn't deserve. I'll instead reluctantly post the trailer and movie poster ONLY because no one will read this if I don't add something visual.

My wife and I have been on a kick of watching indie horror flicks on Netflix every Saturday night based on their Rotten Tomatoes ratings. For weeks, all was going well until last night. 94 percent. That was it's rating. That means that there was a 94 percent chance that I would like, or even LOVE this movie. I have never felt so lied to and bamboozled! So please, please don't waste your time! Instead, watch "The Hallows", "The Invitation", or "The Canal" - all very well done and entertaining indie horror flicks available on Netflix. HAPPY VIEWING!

And Now in The "Seriously, I Can't Make This Stuff Up" Department...

Fans got more than they bargained for when the Hulk (Lou Ferrigno) and Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) got into fisticuffs at the London Comicon and had to be separated by fans. Check out the lurid details here.

I Don't Usually Go For These, Buuut...

Personally, I've always thought that these "Living Dead Dolls" were strictly for 14 year old Goth girls who hang out at Hot Topic and listen to Bauhaus, but after running into these official "Dawn of The Dead" Flyboy and movie poster zombie dolls at Newbury Comics, I may have to rethink my stance...

FRESH GEAR ALERT!!!

"Frankie Goes to The Moon" has landed! See all the sweet swag here!

New-ish Art

I've been having fun tweaking and combining different old art pieces into something new and then throwing filters over them. I had no idea, but Google Drive has a LOT of different filters you can use on your art and pictures! Here are some of the ones I've done;

New Aquisition!

I just scored the deal of the year with this copy of Journey Into Mystery #109 from 1964! I've been looking for this issue for awhile, but every copy I've come across was overpriced or in immaculate condition and priced accordingly. I found this copy at one of my local comic shops in a box of comics that had yet to be priced, so I asked the owner what he wanted for it. He looks it over and says; "I'd say that's about a good 3.0 - how about $12?" I nearly choked, but I managed to exclaim; "SOLD!!" When I got home, I looked at it more carefully, and I would call it a solid VG/VG+ and worth closer to $70-$75. Oh happy day!!!

Tom Hardy Cast as VENOM!!

No, this is not a fever dream - Tom Hardy, AKA Mad Max, AKA Bane, will be playing the slobbering villain/anti-hero in an upcoming solo film from Sony Studios to be released on October 5, 2018!!

Now as I see it, this film has two things going for it, and two potential strikes against it. The first, obviously being Tom Hardy's casting couldn't be more perfect (at the very least, it should get the taste of "Topher" out of our mouths), and the second being that Ruben Fleischer, best known for his work on Zombieland, is set to direct.

The two strikes against it (and mind you, they are BIG strikes), are; it's a Sony (we-love-to-screw-up-Spiderman-movies-as-much-as-possible) Pictures production, and there are rumors that the film will NOT include Spider-Man.

Luckily, Spider-Man had very little to do with the Venom storyline. WTF?!? How the Hell are they gonna make a Venom movie without Spidey?!? It's just, just, just so.... aww man, I'm getting a migraine. Or maybe a mini stroke. I don't know.

All I know is that No Spider-Man = No Venom = I ain't gonna be forking up $15 to see this latest Sony trainwreck. Oooo, maybe they'll give him cybernetic enhancements or morphing armor! SMDH...

Introducing; CRYPTO-MONSTER GEAR!!!

Hi gang! Another Spring is upon us; the leaves are coming back, the grass is green again, flowers are starting to bloom, and 3-D Monster is getting an overhaul! If you saw my last post, you will see that I've started a new line of merchandise called Crypto-Gear. Still keeping with the Monster theme, this line focuses on the supposed real monsters of Cryptozoology such as Bigfoot, The Yeti, Loch Ness Monster, and so-on and so-forth. While Crypto-Gear will be getting it's own retail website, I'll be using 3-D Monster and Red Bubble to promote both lines under the name of Crypto-Monster Gear, and you can view/like the Facebook page .

Whereas before, 3-D Monster merchandise was relegated to only art prints, T-Shirts and decals, selling through Red Bubble allows me to greatly expand the product lines to include items such as;

The money I make from this will initially go to buying more inventory so that I may set up at conventions, art walks, trade shows and that most coveted selling venue; RETAIL OUTLETS! Can you imagine - going into your favorite store and seeing these items on the shelves?!?

Everyone has a goal and this is mine. I want to make this into a success, but I need your help; not just in buying my stuff (although I really, really hope that you do!), I need your input. What type of additional products would you like to see? What type of art? Where would be a good place to sell my stuff?

I still have a ton of art that hasn't been used, and I'll be making new stuff on a regular basis, so please bookmark the shop and check for new stuff. I'll also post new stuff here and on the Facebook page as well. I know I've all but stopped posting and updating the site, but working 12 hour days takes it's toll. I'm gonna try really hard to change that, and hopefully I can once again make this my full time gig. Thanks again for your support and for enjoying my nerdy little musings!

New Venture: Crypto-Gear!!

Hi guys, I've been on a long vacation cookin' up a new idea based on Cryptozoology creatures, and I've started a Kickstarter campaign for the first wave of 4 characters; Bigfoot, Nessie, The Yeti and Mothman. For those of you not familiar with Kickstarter, it's an all-or-nothing crowdfunding program, so that means if the goal isn't met, you aren't obligated to contribute, and if the goal is met, you get some really cool swag from yours truly!

The reason why I am doing a kickstarter campaign vs just selling online is simple; BULK DISCOUNT. I can't afford to buy a huge amount of inventory up front, and that means I am restricted to ONLY selling online and making it harder to grow the business. If I am successful, all of the money made will go right back into buying more inventory so that I can set up at conventions, art walks, retail outlets, etc. Right now, the merchandise is limited to T-Shirts, hats, patches and messenger bags, but I would like to expand into polo shirts, backpacks, drinkware, pins, keychains, toys and much, much more!

After I get Crypto-Gear up and rolling, I plan on taking the 3-D Monster brand to Kickstarter and doing the exact same thing! It's a little trickier with the 3-D Monster stuff because there are potential copyright issues with much of the art that need to be ironed out. It wasn't a big deal before when it was on a smaller scale, but I can't go to Target with an unlicensed Mechagodzilla design and ask them to carry it in their stores. The beauty of cryptids is that NO ONE owns the rights - it's all in the public domain!

So there you have it! Time to get those credit cards out and order some sweet, sweet gear! Unlike a lot of Kickstarter campaigns, I'm not going to charge $50 for a t-shirt or $10 for a damn sticker. My prices are the same retail prices that I plan on putting on the website once it's up. Thanks so much for your support!
