This is Why You Never Trust a Carnie....

What could POSSIBLY go wrong? Via ThereIFixedIt.

What The Hell Happened?!?

I just picked up a copy of Green Lantern: Blackest Night #'s 1 & 2, and I'm a bit curious; WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THE DC UNIVERSE?!? It's probably been about a year since I've picked up a DC comic, and you mean to tell me that within that time, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, The Elongated Man (OK, so maybe it wasn't ALL bad), Jean Loring, Dr. Fate and many others have been killed?!?! And furthermore, Barry Allen is back?!?
I've always been more of a Marvel guy, but I used to pick up Batman, JSA, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and various "event" titles such as Identity Crisis, Justice, Infinite Crisis, 52, etc. After a while, my monthly comics tab started to rise, and some stuff had to go. I know I missed everything that happened in Final Crisis, and that's probably when alot of this occured, so I guess I'm gonna have to catch up through the trades. If anyone has any advice on good stuff that I should pick up to get me up to speed, I would love to hear it.

Hey Dad - Look What Almost Bit Me!

Actually, my dog found it, and I picked it up and brought it home to chase my wife around the house with. This is one of the things I love about living in Maine; No Poisonous snakes! However, the damn thing did poop on my hand.

From My Collection; Great Horror Comic Book Covers!

Here's another gem from EC Comics; Shock SuspenStories #7 from 1953 featuring one of the most incredible comic-book covers of all time by the immortal Al Feldstein!

Best Local News Channel Promo....EVER!!!!

From a strange place known as Cleveland in the 1970's! This is so awesome they should have re-tooled it & used it in Anchorman! Via NeatoCoolville.

Dramatic Reading of a Break-Up Letter by a REAL Person!

"You make me touch your hands for stupid reasons" is my favorite line by far! You know, maybe I'm getting old. Maybe it's because I'm married to a teacher, but I was more appalled by how our public school system (I'm ASSUMING she's not attending private school) has completely and utterly failed this child. And people wonder why the world is gonna end in three years! Enjoy the reading here. Via Boing-Boing.

District 9: My Review.

The wife and I went out last night, had some excellent Chinese and caught Peter Jackson's District 9. First, the bad; I really, really, really would have loved to hear more of the backstory behind the Prawn's arrival. I also would have liked to have seen a more in-depth portrayal of public reaction to first seeing the mothership's arrival and the first look at the aliens themselves. **SPOILER ALERT** And finally, I still don't understand how being exposed to the ship's fuel source would have caused a human to turn into a Prawn? **END SPOILER ALERT**
Now for the good; I loved the parrallels made between human and prawn racial discrimination. The special effects were top-notch as was the acting. The fighting scenes, especially the one at the end were absolutely white-knuckle city! I thought the Nigerian gang storyline was a welcome and well done addition. And I really enjoyed the prawn/human relationship that develops.
Overall, I realy enjoyed the movie and look forward to seeing it again on DVD. I give it 3 out of 4 stars.

Local Reporter Interviews Insane Shop Owner!

There's nothing I love more than to watch a straight-laced, serious news reporter trying to interview a person who is bat-s@@t crazy. The woman is accused of cyber stalking, but I don't think she did it. Now c'mon, let me handcuff you! Via Neatorama!

The Walking Dead Google Map!

Boing-Boing has posted this stunningly accurate map from the comic "The Walking Dead". The map covers all of the events from issue 1-64. There are markers to cite the location for every zombie attack and event from the series, complete with comic images for each marker.

Happy 92nd Birthday Jack Kirby!!

Jack (King) Kirby is my favorite comic book artist of all time, and there will NEVER be another like him! So here's to you, Jack - long live the king!!!

Kurt Cobain is Back!

The new "Guitar Hero 5" will feature musical legends such as Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana, and Kurt Cobain! I watched the trailer, and it looks really epic and all, but watching a computerized dead rock star is a little unnerving. And the fact that it's "Kurt Cobain" and not "Nirvana" leads me to believe that this is a Courtney Love venture and the surviving members were not included. Watching the clip, I can't tell if the other players bear a likeness to the other original members, and that may just be intentional.

New Posters & Trailer For 2012!

OK, I admit it - I'm a total sucker for a good disaster movie! Heck, I was a blubbering mess watching Bruce Willis say goodbye to Liv Tyler in "Armageddon". I'm not ashamed. Anyway, I can't wait to see 2012 ! The fact that this is something that is actually going to happen makes it all the more exciting! So be sure to catch it when it hits theatres in November & see how many different ways you'll be able to kiss your ass goodbye!

From My Collection; Great Horror Comic Book Covers!

From "Tales From The Crypt #40 (1954) comes this awesome Jack Davis cover! This was one of the comics used in the senate hearings on comic censorship that led to the ultimate demise of EC Comics and the rise of the "Comics Code Authority".

Movies I Can't Believe I Haven't Seen!

It looks good - I just haven't gotten around to it.

I've seen bits and pieces, but never the entire film.

My wife cannot understand how I've managed to never see this, but it just doesn't interest me.

I even had this one on my IPod for nearly a year, but never got around to watching the whole thing.

I heard nothing but good things about this one, but when you have a wife who won't go to horror movies with you (ever since I duped her into seeing "The Grudge"), and not having any friends who like horror movies, it makes it a little difficult.

Maybe it's just me, but this movie looks as boring as whale poop.

By Far My Favorite Image of The Day....

I would soooo buy this comic! Via HeWhoCannotBeNamed.

This is The Kind of Wedding I Should Have Had!

On August 25, a couple of super Gundam fans (they named their daughter "Seira" from the series) were selected from 500 other entries to have their wedding at the foot of the life-size 1/1 Gundam RX78 at Odaiba in Japan. Check out the pics here. I just can't get over the sheer enormity of this thing! Via Boing-Boing.

Art From One of my Favorite Video Games of All Time!

I can't even begin to imagine how many hours I spent playing "Pitfall", but I'm really digging this art from the game's packaging. Via The Retroist.

The EXACT Moment in These Boys' Lives Where Girls Cease to be "Icky"

The Poo Trap; or, Do Dogs REALLY Need a Sense of Dignity?

This invention is beyond ridiculous; a bag you can attach to your dog's ass so that YOUR lazy ass can avoid picking up poo. Well, here's a newsflash Poindexter; TOUGH! picking up poo is part of owning a dog! Besides, what do you think you're gonna do when they're done? They can't just walk around with a bag o' crap dangling from their butts - you still have to take care of it, Einstein! Plus, think of the poor dog who has to walk around thinking; "didn't I just get rid of that? What the Hell?" I'm not even gonna dignify this with a link.

I'm Immortalized in a Girl.

My old friend from middle school, Chris Byrd, who is now an accomplished fantasy/horror writer under the pen name "Everett Bell" has written me into one of his new stories; "The Singing Bones". Only problem is.... he made me a girl named Theresa. That's okay, though - I got a huge kick out of reading it and really enjoyed it! Here's an excerpt;

“Are your parents going to let you come?” Theresa shouted at me as I walked down the narrow isle in the school bus. “Come on man! It’s been three years since our favorite psycho was in a movie! You gotta come!” She was a tomboy with a scoliosis hump between her shoulders, and nobody loved horror movies like she did."

And while I do have minor scoliosis, I'm pleased to point out that do not have a hump. Check out his book selection on Amazon here!

This is What I Would Probably Do if I Ever Decided to Become a Drug Dealer...

Two knuckleheads in Denver, Colorado were arrested for selling crystal meth and laundering the money with rare comic books. At the time of their arrest, authorities found about 100 boxes of highly valuable comics. Via Boing-Boing.

"Honey; why is my neck massager all wet?"

Boy oh boy - I had to revise this subject line three times because I don't want to shock anyone with my crass sense of humor. I found this arousing little ad in a Spiderman comic from 1968. No shit, really.

"It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year..."

That's right, kiddo's - the first day of school for our town was today, as well as my youngest son's first day of kindergarten. He was pretty excited, but my oldest was dreading it. Sigh, it goes by too fast. I remember being so annoyed as a kid when they would start showing "back to school" ads in freakin' July, that I would ritually burn every one that I could find! Take that K-Mart!

This is Seriously Effed Up....

Artist Alex Pardee was having a routine signing at Upper Playground in Seattle, Washington until things went horribly wrong. WARNING: the story and photos that you are about to view are horrifying , sad, and EXTREMELY gruesome! As of this writing, I'm still feeling light-headed and a little nauseous. If you've got the stones & the stomach for it, read on....
