New Art!

The "Junk Food Demon" is hungry... and he will not be denied!
I tried a little free-styling today, and just started making shapes of different colors, then I asked the shapes; "what do you want to be?" This was their response.
Love it? Hate it? Were you paying attention?

Underwater Bubble Room!

This is too frickin' awesome for words!!! (But that won't stop me from trying) Some guys built a fort 15 feet below the water in a Nevada lake that is basically a clear plastic bubble weighted to the lake floor. Toss in some cold beer, some snacks and one of those pool loungers, and I ain't comin' up for a week!

Looks so Bad... You Just Know it's Gonna be GREAT!

I'm gonna go see this flick with absolutely no pretensions or artistic expectations whatsoever. I'm simply going to watch Danny Trejo hit a lot of folks with multiple variations of a machete, watch him mow down bad guys with his gatling gun mounted on a motorcycle, and oogle Michelle Rodriguez in a leather bikini. Nothing more, nothing less.

New Art!

The new installment to my "Hollywood" series takes a bit of a different turn this time. Instead of a deceased celebrity, I've chosen one who who is likely to leave us soon. While I was doing an image search for this young lady, I ran across a photo of her done up EXACTLY like Marilyn Monroe. If she stays on the path she is currently on, that photo will be sadly ironic. Purchase "Glamorous Young Hollywood" here.

The Tables Are Turned...

Here at 3-D Monster, I'm used to interviewing unique and interesting people, but it's unfamiliar territory when the tables are turned and I'm the one in the hot seat. Actually, like most artists, I'm fairly narcissistic and enjoy talking about myself, so being interviewed isn't uncomfortable at all! My good buddy and guest-blogger Tim Gagnon has struck out on his own with "The Taggraphics Blog", and his first interview was with yours truly. He's got a good thing going over there, so be sure to check it out & show him some love! Thanks Timmay!

I love this red skull hoodie that I ran across while looking through FFFFound! They are $109 retail, but I discovered one on Ebay for $50, so I might pick it up soon. Don't care so much for Kanye West, though.

New Art!

I've been working feverishly all morning, but I finished the Keith Richards piece. I redrew it in Illustrator and tweaked it in Photoshop. Don't think I'm gonna put this one in the shop, but that may change.

So This is Where The Cover Art for "Die, Die My Darling" Came From...

I love it when I find the original source for different pop-culture icons! Like just the other day, I was reading my new "ShockSuspense Stories" comic, and I ran across a panel that I found on a tumbler site awhile back. I liked the panel so much that I redrew it as my "Heads Will Roll" art piece.

It's Only Rock N' Roll....

I found this sweet image of Keith Richards stepping off of the Stone's private jet back in '72, and instantly fell in love with it. I really thought it was a painting at first! I think I might have to do something with this one...

I'm really diggin' this new illustration by my pal Chunky B over at Electorama! Batman Beyond is one of the coolest concepts ever, and Chunky really brought it home! Great job!

Feeling Youthful & Spry?

Macaulay Culkin turned 30 today. THIRTY!!!
How're you feelin' now, gramps?

I come to you today with a conflicted heart. While I am truly amazed and extremely excited that this miracle of engineering exists, I am also deeply saddened because I will very likely never own one. What you are certainly drooling over is the Seabreacher X; a two seater boat, it looks like a great white shark, the Seabreacher X boosts the performance with a 260hp supercharged engine, allowing the vehicle to travel at speeds of 50 mph on the surface and 25 mph underwater. The Seabreacher is capable of jumping up to 12 feet out of the water and roll 90 degrees to the right and left (watch the video!). The boat plunge under the water with the push of a joystick and can remain submerged for 20 seconds. Other features include a snorkel mounted video camera transmits live video to LCD screens for the pilot and passenger during dives, GPS navigation, and on board stereo system with iPod docking. It costs about £60,000.

Let's just call it a robot shark that you and a friend can pilot while rocking out to Pantera. I don't know how much it would cost in American dollars, but I'm betting it's an assload.

Sweet Ride....

It looks a little hard to ride, but I want one of these self-balancing one wheel electric scooters by Ryno Motors.

I love it when someone creates something incredible from a completely mundane object! Artist Anastassia Elias has done just that with her tiny toilet paper tube worlds. Great work Anastassia!

It's That Special Time of Year Again; BACK TO SCHOOL!

Daisy is gonna be mighty lonely...

"Is it time yet? Are we leaving for school? How much longer?" - This was much of my morning ;-)

This pic perfectly captures both of their moods and opinions

No, my son is not constipated; just excited to start middle school.

As usual, the Summer has absolutely flown by, but it was a glorious one! All kidding aside, I'm really gonna miss having them around - it'll be much too quiet around here.

So Whaddya Think of The New Logo?

I'm thinking it is time for a change! I really liked the skull w/ crossed shotguns from the Kurt Cobain piece that I did (Which was my oldest son's idea, BTW - thanks Logan!), so I decided to tweak it a bit and came up with this. I really wanted to keep the core elements and colors - just have a different design. The round one will be going on stickers and shirts. Love it? Hate it? Don't care?

How could I have never noticed this for all these years?!?
Wow! I... I've gotta go sit down for a minute and absorb this.

Locke & Key Coming to Television... Via STEVEN SPIELBERG!

That's right - Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodriguez's award-winning comic series will NOT be coming to theatres as previously speculated, but instead will be brought to the small screen by Steven Spielberg, Alex Kurtzman, Robert Orci and Josh Friedman.

For those of you unaware, Locke & Key follows the adventures of three siblings who move across the country to their old New England mansion after the murder of their father. They soon discover the house to be full of hidden keys with weird and magical properties. The mansion is also home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all. This will undoubtedly be good news to my friend Izzy of Skelton Crew Studios, who produces the props related with the series. Congrats to all!

Here it is; The Official Trailer for AMC's The Walking Dead!!!

This is just gonna be (in my best Butthead voice)..."The most awesome thing in the history of awesome" First episode is gonna be a 90 minute special on Halloween night, y'all! That's a movie to you!!!

This is Freakin' AWESOME!!!!

To promote the movie, "The Last Excorcism", the movie marketing geniuses at Sony came up with a great idea to dupe horny guys on Chatroulette into thinking they're watching a hot chick take off her top before things go horribly, horribly amiss.

Crazy 4 Cult's Kirk Demarais & Dave McDowell!

Kirk beaming in front of his work at Gallery 1988

The poster for the first Crazy 4 Cult show by another one of my favorite artits; Dave Perillo

Kirk's submission for this year's show; The McFly's from... well, if you didn't know, you probably wouldn't be reading this ;-)

If I remember correctly, I think this one of the Torrence's was bought by actor Michael Rappaport

This one from "The Jerk" is my favorite!

My online buddy and incredibly talented artist, Kirk Demarais has submitted his newest creation in his "movie family portrait" series based on various cult classics for this year's Crazy 4 Cult IV at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. Kirk also posted a great and inspiring story on his blog about how he came to be a professional artist whose work is snatched up by the rich and famous! It's a must-read for anyone like myself, who is trying to break into the biz.

Dave McDowell's submission; "The Breakfast Fight Club"

On a related note, I was recently contacted by one of my favorite pop-surrealist artists and fellow Crazy 4 Cult participant Dave McDowell. Dave emailed me to tell me that he had seen the post I did on him awhile back, and it turns out that he's a big fan of my blog AND my artwork! I emailed him back, asking him for some tips and advice for working in the art world, and he took the time to send me a really long and comprehensive email with some of the best advice I've ever heard! Man, I was walking on air for a week after! He's a great down to Earth guy who really loves to create art, and I really appreciate him taking the time to help me out.
