Is it a Sketch or a Toy?

You might look at this and say; "SAY! This is a great Jim Lee Batman sketch!" But wait; you would only be half right. It is actually a Batman toy BASED on a Jim Lee sketch! BRILLIANT!

The figure is part of DC’s “Designer Series” figures, in which the artstyle of a particular DC artist is painstakingly recreated on a poseable action figure. In this particular model, Batman: Hush artist Jim Lee, takes that design ethos to its most incredible extreme!

For now, the figure will debut as a SDCC exclusive for $40, but will probably be everywhere shortly after.

This is What Crossbones Will Look Like in Captain America: Civil War

Marvel Nails it AGAIN! These pics taken on the set of Captain America 3: Civil War, gives us the first glimpses of Cap and The Falcon in action, as well as the film's antagonist; Crossbones! From Wikipedia; In the comics, Crossbones usually appears as a henchman of the Red Skull. He carried out the assassination of Captain America, although Sharon Carter, who was under hypnosis at the time, is believed to have fired the fatal shots.

How Cap hails a cab;

Sam Wilson, AKA The Falcon in action!

I'm really diggin' the costume design - I wonder what those gauntlets are for?

Great UFO podcast!

Hey guys, as most of you know, I have a passion for UFO's and aliens. Ever since my first spectacular and close-up sighting back when I was 7, to the multiple sightings from my time in rural Maine; Ufology has been a constant (and constantly frustrating) part of my life. I have been the admin for the Portland, Maine UFO group for a couple of years now, and it was through that I was contacted by Martin Willis, who hosts a weekly UFO podcast. Martin graciously invited me to join his show last week and take part in a round table discussion of UFO's in Maine. It was a very positive experience, and would be honored to do it again! Just click on the image to access the show; hope you like it!

Your Daily Giggle...

New Acquisitions!

Hey gang! As all of you know, I went on a bit of a sabbatical recently, but in that time, I picked up some really sweet swag! Living in Portland gives me easy access to some of the best comic, toy and collectible shops on the East coast! Obviously, I've bought more than I should have, and way too much to mention, so here are some highlights;

Super Powers Lex Luthor and Brainiac; I was a huge fan of the original line, and these guys were always hard to find!

Amazing Spider-Man #2; got an INCREDIBLE deal on this one featuring the first appearance of the Vulture, and now my earliest issue.

The Vault of Horror #28; one of the most iconic covers of the series, and one that has eluded me for years. One of my local comic shops bought a HUGE collection of golden-age horror and sci-fi comics, so I was able to pick up a few of the old EC comics, but this was the gem of the bunch!

 Figures Toy Company 8" Adam West Batman; this is probably my favorite toy right now. FTC has been re-releasing all of the old Batman Mego toys, and they have truly outdone themselves with the Batman TV show line, with this guy as their crowning achievement!

 Speaking of Mego Toys; this is the Captain Action 12" Ironman figure. It features a removable costume, impressive articulation, and a helmet that features a detachable faceplate. Unfortunately, it's Captain Action and not Tony Stark underneath. This guy is a very close 2nd to my AW Batman.

Original Mego Human Torch; this guy is absolutely timeless in his flaming pajama onsie! What's not to love?
So, what new toys have ya'll acquired?

Final Four Episodes of The Flash!!!

Is everyone digging the Flash as much as I am? I felt it was off to a bit of a slow start, and didn't care much for the casting choices, but I'm absolutely riveted to the screen now! I love it when a show like this pays respect to the previous incarnation by including cast members from the 1990 series. My hope for a future storyline involves having Barry's dad; the Flash from the 1990 series, being tapped by the speed force and "giggle" donning the familiar red long johns once more!! I also love the ongoing Arrow crossovers, and the Flash vs Arrow episode was one of the best of the season!

A “TV Justice League” team-up between Flash, Arrow (or “Assassin Arrow”) and Firestorm.

Gorilla Grodd in all his cgi glory!
Now, lets talk about what all of you are thinking; the Reverse Flash. I have only two words for the folks over at the CW; WELL. DONE. Tom Cavanaugh is spot-on as the deadly speedster masquerading as Eobard Thawne masquerading as crippled scientist Harrison Wells!! I love the twist, I love the costume, I love the Crisis on Infinite Earths reference, and I'm beyond excited that it's all headed for... wait for it... SPOILER ALERT... FLASHPOINT!!! The only thing that excites me as much as the RF can be summed up in three words; "Not God... GRODD". I really hope to see some real action from the super-smart Simian before the season finale. There's only four episodes left, but in the meantime, you can watch the new season 1 ending trailer for the “Endgame”;

First Look at X-Men: Age of Apocalypse's Nightcrawler!

Another X-Men movie, another young X-Man. Here we see the first official pic of Kodi Smit-McPhee as everyone's favorite blue-skinned demon teleporter!

 Smit-McPhee definitely has more of an 80's look, which fits perfectly into the timeline in which the film takes place. His outfit is also more closely related to his comic-book version as well. Of course, the big question is; will he measure up to the spectacular performance given by Alan Cumming in X-2? These are VERY large 2-toed shoes to fill, as Cumming's Nightcrawler was arguably the best thing about X-2 (Don't get me wrong, it was a great movie). I for one, am very excited to find out! Check out the pic of Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler below for comparison;

First (Full) Pic of Jared Leto's Joker

Yes, I am back! I've been busy working on other things, but now it's time get come home to my first born. Plus, there's just so much to talk about lately! With all that's happening in comics and film, it's a great time to be a geek! I mean c'mon; a full trailer for Star Wars AND Batman vs Superman on the same weekend?!? Face it kids; these ARE the good ol' days!

Anywho, back to the post at hand; we've seen the teases of Leto and the back of his green noggin', and then the so-so re-creation of the cover from "The Killing Joke". Now we have the full reveal;

 what do you think? For me, it's a little too gangster (or should I say "gangsta" for those of the more urban vernacular) mixed in with unstable crack/meth user. I don't really dig the tattoos as I feel they've been stripped from generic t-shirt designs found at your local Wal-Mart. I would like to see what he will be wearing in the film, as the clothes truly make the psychotic super villain, but I'm scared it will involve saggy purple jeans and a green wife-beater. I guess my only hope is that Leto's considerable acting chops will make up for and distract from this hot mess.
