Film Studios Take Note...

This is how movie posters are done right! Now please... step away from the Photoshop.

The Avengers: Then and Now

This is pretty cool. Take a look at the late 70's-80's incarnations of our favorite super team side by side with their modern day counterparts! I recognize all of them except old school Iron Man; can someone please tell me where this abomination came from?!?

MONDO MARVEL!!

(Lazily stolen entirely from the Superhero Hype site)
The famed art branch of the Alamo Drafthouse, Mondo, debuted their latest art show yesterday titled "Mike Mitchell x Marvel x Mondo," and now they've brought the entirety of the character portraits and "Just Like Us" pieces from the artist online, which you can check out in the gallery below!
"My love for Marvel Comics was an integral part of growing up," Mark Mitchell said. "Not just the comics, but the action figures, video games and cartoons. My intention with this show was to take those characters out of their action-oriented world and give them a moment of silence to catch their breath. There's a humanizing quality to that which I find extremely interesting. This has easily been the most ambitious project I've ever taken on, and it's due in part to my love for their universe; which is fictional by definition, but real in my mind and in the minds of others."
The show will continue through May 17 at the Mondo gallery, located at 4115 Guadalupe St. in Austin, Texas. Any additional prints that aren't sold at the show will be made available online at their website MondoTees.com. Below are my favorites. View the entire series here

Excellent Pulp Fiction Reference in Captain America: The Winter Soldier!

***MAJOR SPOILER ALERT***
I finally went and saw the Captain America sequel, and all I can say is WOW!! Within the first five minutes I knew that I was going to love it. Anyone who has read the original comic-book storyline will likely agree that it was a great read! I'll admit that the first Captain America film didn't exactly do it for me; I felt it was slow and uninspired. Unfortunately, when you do a comic book film, you always have to start with the origin story. This can really limit the creativity of the film makers, so when the sequel comes along, they are able to have more freedom when it comes to the storyline. That being said, compared to the first film, which rates at the bottom of the list of modern Marvel films, the Winter Soldier rises to the number four slot behind Avengers, Iron Man 1, and Spider-Man 2 (Raimi). Quite a leap indeed!

One of the defining "don't blink or you'll miss it" moments, and probably the most bad-ass mo-fo easter eggs in film history was the moment when our heroes come to visit the grave of the recently deceased Nick Fury. For a split second, the camera glances over his tombstone, and just below his name is the Bible quote; "The path of the righteous man: Ezekiel 25: 17". For those of you who are true movie lovers and purveyors of good taste, you will know that this is a direct reference to what is probably Samuel Jackson's most infamous roles as Jules Winfield from Quentin Tarantino’s Masterpiece; Pulp Fiction. If you don't know this, I'll strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger!

Nirvana Reunion at The 2014 Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony!

It's hard to believe that it's really been 20 years since Kurt Cobain left this life, but left behind some of the most influential music of the 20th century. I don't think it's a stretch to compare Nirvana to the Beatles in that they've had such a tremendous impact on the music scene and continue to inspire and influence so very many musicians. For the induction ceremony, the remaining members; Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear (yes, he was a member, too!), all got up on stage to perform with Joan Jett, Kim Gordon, St. Vincent, and Lorde. While all of the performances were good, Joan Jett absolutely killed it on "Smells Like Teen Spirit"! If Kurt couldn't be here, Jett is certainly the next best thing! Check out here performance below;

Here's Lorde performing a heartfelt version of "All Apologies"

Annie Clark of St. Vincent performs "Lithium"

Simply Spectacular...

What you are looking at is a full-size, wearable (I think) version of Tony Stark's Iron Man armor made almost entirely from cardboard. Kai-Xiang Xhong is a student in Taiwan and began turning sketches into sculptures when he was in high school. It took him over a year to complete the man or iron! Please click here to see more of his incredible creations and read more about him!

Flea Market Find!

I was at the Undercover Flea Market in Oxford, ME yesterday and scored a 12" Sideshow Dracula figure in the box for... wait for it... fifteen dollars!!! Now I have Dracula, Frankenstein, Phantom of The Opera as the Red Death, and Lon Chaney as the vampire from "London After Midnight". Interesting fact; there is not a single copy of "London After Midnight" in existence. No shit, really!

So Wrong... Yet so Damn Funny!

"Didn't see that coming, huh?"

I Don't Know if it's Nostalgia or What, But This is My Most Favorite Sketch of All Time!

As Far As I'm Concerned, This Will Be The Best Part of Avengers 2: Age of Ultron...

This recent piece of concept art for the upcoming film suggests that fan favorite; Hulkbuster Iron Man will be squaring off with ol' jade jaws for the much-anticipated sequel. In "Iron Man 3," we saw an armor that looked very much Hulkbuster inspired: Mark XXXVIII, the silver and blue "Igor" armor that rampaged against Aldrich Killian and his Extremis-powered enforcers.

"Who Lives in a Trailer Under a Bridge?"

"SPONGEBOB FAT-BACK!!"
