They Caught The Bastard!

Many of you may remember a post from a couple of weeks ago that featured a mentally handicapped man who had his vast collection of Superman memorabilia stolen by a man pretending to be his friend.
Well, according to Boing-Boing this morning, Johnny Law finally caught up with the soulless ne'er-do-well. Here's the whole story from BB;

The Granite City, Illinois police have arrested 37-year-old Gerry Arville Armbruster (mugshot above), and they believe he is the same guy who stole a massive collection of Superman memorabilia from Mike Meyer, a mentally disabled comics fan.
Armbruster, who sounds like a real class act, was caught yesterday by Granite City cops for a new crime: robbing a 76-year old man citizen of his jewelry and cash.
Earlier, geeks around the world rallied to Meyer's defense with offers of replacement Superman memorabilia. Now, it looks like he will get his original collection returned. He told reporters that the value of those stolen objects was more sentimental than financial, so this really is a wonderful development in a sad story.

  1. I can not find it now, but one of the articles I read had a quote from him talking about how he wanted to donate most of what was sent to him to others. I think if I remember right he said a childrens hospital. Which makes a happy ending even cooler.

  2. That's awesome - endings like that make me feel that there may be hope for the world!

  3. What a douche for stealing his collection! Glad it was a happy ending though :)

  4. I hope his fellow inmates find out what this guy did and give him an un-happy rear-ending

  5. I agree 100%. We had a guy here in Maine who stole over $5000 worth of toys from the "Toys For Tots" drop-off just before Christmas, and he turned out to be a member of the city council! I'm always surprised at just how low people can stoop.
