New Art!

From the depths of Hell comes.... Dracula's Daughter!!! I ran across a great pic on MonsterCrazy with Carroll Borland as Dracula's Daughter in Mark of the Vampire (1935), and it inspired me to do this wonderful piece of art you see before you now.

Are You Ready For This?.... GAIKING; THE MOVIE!!!!

OMG, the awesomeness of this trailer has just melted my face off. Apparently, Toei Animation is producing this one, which I didn't even realize was CGI upon watching the trailer. Sure, it'll have subtitles, but I DO NOT CARE... IT'S FREAKIN' GAIKING!!!!

Not Gonna Be Posting Much For The Next Couple of Days

Happy humpin' day folks! I've got a LOT on my plate for the next few days, mostly crappy stuff like hauling trash to the dump from our previous residence, dentist appointments for the kids and I and other stuff that I don't want to do. But some of it will be fun, like getting ready for the Art Walk on Friday. I went out yesterday and bought my frames and some paint, and I'll be getting those ready today and tomorrow. And you vultures who have been waiting for me to falter in my Art: 365 project might just get your chance as it's gonna be damn hard for me to get any art done today or tomorrow.

New Art!

For your consideration, the Space-man himself; Ace Frehley! I've been super-busy today, so I'm afraid this one is a bit rushed. So much so that I don't think I'll be listing it in my shop unless I'm able to work with it some more.

EPIC Kindergarten Classroom!

Look For "The Walking Dead" on AMC in October

Jonny Lee Miller is the frontrunner for Rick

Jon Bernthal as Shane

AMC has just announced that they will forgo the pilot episode and go straight to series with an order of six episodes of the zombie thriller to begin shooting in Atlanta in June and premiering in October, dovetailing with Halloween and AMC's annual 'Fearfest' two-week marathon of horror and thriller pics.
As for casting news, according to MTV news;
"Eli Stone" and "Hackers" star Jonny Lee Miller is rumored as a frontrunner for the leading role of Rick Grimes, a police officer who becomes the leader of a group that has survived the recent zombie outbreak. The casting has not yet been confirmed. Jon Bernthal of "The Pacific" has been cast in the key role of Shane, Rick's partner on the police force and the leader of the survivors until Rick joins the group.

It's Funny 'Cause It's True!

I used to manage a comic shop in Mobile, Alabama and some of them would come in and I would have to hold my breath. We had one guy in particular that would come in at least once a week. Real Alan Moore type with the beard and the hair and "Buddy Holly" glasses at least three inches thick. The guy reeked like hot garbage... in a sewer... full of dead animals. He always wore the same gray t-shirt which I'm sure was white at one time, and told me a story of how all of his D&D player guidebooks got ruined from water damage. "Did you have a flood?" I asked him. "Nope, I had a leaky shower head."

That's right folks - HE KEPT HIS BOOKS IN HIS BATHTUB!!!! Now, everything made perfect sense. Man, I could do a ten-year long sitcom called "Comic Shop" based solely upon my true experiences.

More Kinda New Art!

Hey guys - I really wasn't happy with how that Scooby-Doo robot print came out, so I played around with it a little and came up with this. I like this more simplified version better. I like the color scheme more, too. I'll still keep the original as well 'cause you never know....

New Art!

I confess that I didn't put much effort or creativity in today's piece. I simply ran across the image on a Tumbler site and said to myself; "self, that looks pretty cool! That image kinda creeped me out while watching the opening credits to Scooby-Doo on Saturday mornings." You gotta admit, it would look cool blown up huge and framed on your wall. Go ahead, I take Paypal.

Look Familiar?

WTF?!?

Now don't get me wrong - I enjoy slasher flicks. And I've also been known to enjoy a BK Rodeo Burger with a medium order of onion rings. But combining the two? Nope, uh-uh, I don't think so. I'm guessing this ill-conceived venture was born out of a desire to promote Burger King's practice of staying open late, since serial killers are likely to be night-owls?

I don't know, maybe it's just me having a hard time of associating a tasty burger and fries with disemboweling, decapitation and general bodily mutilation. While I got a kick out of seeing the ads, I don't think they are effective advertising for an EATING establishment. Just my two cents. See all of the ads here.

The Joys of Owning a Dog...

Our dog, Daisy has been on a bit of a naughty streak lately. When we first got her, and were living at our old house, we were unable to leave her alone w/out tearing the place up, so we started crating her. By the time we moved into our new house, she was much better behaved, so we started leaving her out of her crate and giving her free roam of the house with no problems. Lately, that has changed.

We came home the other day and she had torn up my wife's brand-new magazine, my son's library book, and two of my vintage Ironman comics - I didn't even get to read the one pictured above! There was paper EVERYWHERE! And this morning, I drove the kids to school, which takes like, five minutes, and when I got back she had starting tearing up ANOTHER magazine AND pooped and peed on the carpet upstairs! AAARRGH!!!! So I guess I'll need to crate her up just to go & check the mail now! Sheesh!

Happy Monday!

Mornin' gang - I hope everyone had a good weekend. We woke up this morning to almost an inch of snow on the ground and cold, pouring rain. It's days like this that make me thankful that my commute consists of walking up a flight of stairs in my warm, dry house!

Did ya'll do anything fun this weekend? I took the kids biking and skateboarding around the neighborhood Saturday, and my wife and I were childless Saturday night, so we went out for Chinese, came back home and made White Russians and enjoyed a Dexter marathon. Yesterday, we pretty much took it easy and watched Superbad and Walk Hard back-to-back on FX.

Today is gona be a bit lonely as today is my wife's first day back to work as she was laid up most of last week due to a back injury. And now my back is hurting, so go figure! Hope you guys have a great week!

New Art!

Wow, doing this on a Saturday kinda sux! Doesn't make the wife too happy, either! I had a hard time deciding what to make today, and I found this in one of my old idea folders and decided to go with it. If I had realized that it would take half the afternoon, I might've gone with something a little easier, but oh well! You guys have a great weekend & I'll see you tomorrow! Ooops, almost forgot to add the link to buy it; here it is.

New Art!

"Being the adventures of a young man ... who couldn't resist pretty girls ... or a bit of the old ultra-violence ... went to jail, was re-conditioned ... and came out a different young man ... or was he ?"

That's right, it's Alex from Stanley Kubrick's seminal 1971 cult classic; "A Clockwork Orange"
Malcolm McDowell really hit it out of the park as the sadistic leader of the English gang of thugs, The Droogs. Own this piece of cinematic history in either the varying shades of orange, or the more realistic color scheme by going here.

10 Stupid Questions

OK gang, it's time for yet another installment of 10 Stupid Questions! Today's sucker is none other than my good friend, ex-cubicle neighbor, and Mr. know-it-all of all things Disney and hockey, our very own guest-blogger Tim (Timmay) Gagnon!

Here's Tim & myself with some beautiful co-workers at a company Christmas party a couple of years ago. Damn, I miss those parties!

Timmy will be sooo excited that I used this picture!

For those of you too lazy to look to your right, here's a little bit about our boy; Tim Gagnon is a Maine based graphic designer. He has a passion for cool art, graphic design, and illustration. On top of that he is a connoisseur of all things animation and Disney. When not physically bound to the constraints of his computer, he can be found with a book attached to his hands or sleeping.

Yeah, yeah, yeah - let's get to the questions!

1.) What do you do and why? I’m a graphic designer for a promotional products company by day, and an amateur illustrator by night. I always enjoyed creating art and design.

2.) What or who inspires you?
I get inspired by many different things. Movies, books, good art and design, things that other people may see as just common stuff.

3.) What's the best part of your day?
Going home and being able to work on my own creations.

4.) What's the most bizarre thing you've ever experienced?
The first thing comes to mind is when I was younger. Our cat had recently died. I had come down with mono. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. As I was in there. I suddenly heard a cat meow right outside the door. We only had the one cat.

5.) Who is one living person you would like to meet and why?
Japanese Animator and Director Hiyao Miyazaki. The films he has created are astounding. He is the modern day Walt Disney. But Japanese.

6.) What are your three favorite posessions?
My hockey equipment. My collection of game-worn hockey jerseys, and my iPod Touch.

7.) What one superpower would you like to have?
I would have to say that it is a three-way tie between flying, teleportation, and stopping time.

8.) When is the last time you got into a fistfight and why?
It was my Freshman year of high school. The other guy was a sophomore in my art class. He was always talking about he could do this, he was awesome at that. His buddy told him one day that I said I could kick his ass. He scheduled the fight for one day after school, and I kicked his ass. He was very friendly days later. A couple years after he graduated. He committed suicide. Pretty sad.

9.) What song gets you pumped today?
I don’t think that there is one. Maybe Sex on Fire by Kings Of Leon.

10.) What's your worst habit?
The vending machines at work.

Great answers, Timmy! A ghost cat, Kings of Leon & Hiyao Miyazaki. Not too bad! I'm with you there about stopping time, but I'd probably be too tempted to do naughty things with that type of power. Plus, I'd use it too much and shorten my life-span by like, 30 years!

Join us next week when our guest will be whoever is willing at the last second!

New Art!

To kickstart "Art:365", I've started a new series; "Portraits of Eternia". Since Trap-Jaw is my favorite Masters of The Universe figure, I decided to do him first. I'll add a new one to the series as the mood catches me or if someone throws money at me. Whichever comes first. If there is any art you guys would like to see, just let me know and if I feel like it, I'll make it. Sorry Chunky, looks like my collection is safe today! Buy Trap-Jaw today or I'm gonna come over there and punch you in the ovary!

Art: 365 & The Chance of Free Swag!!!!

Hey guys, I've set a new personal goal for myself yesterday called Art:365, and it's just that; I'm going to create a piece of art everyday for an entire year. It won't be easy, and the quality will fluctuate, but I'm determined to do it. Also, just so I cannot take the easy way out, I will not be using Live-Trace to fall back on.

To give myself a little incentive, I'm counting on you, my dear friends and readers, to help me reach my goal. What? How and why are you going to help me, you ask? Here's how it's gonna go down; I really, really enjoy my toy and comic collection, and hate to part with any of it, so if I haven't posted a new art piece every day by midnight EST, the first person to email me and ask; "Where the Hell is the art?!?", gets a toy or comic from my collection along with a sweet 3-D Monster sticker for your car/bike/skateboard/scooter. Absolutely free - I'll even pay the shipping.

So, in my best Zeus voice; "LET THE CONTEST BEGIN!!!"
