New Art: MARVEL POP ART PRODUCTIONS

I have quite a few silver age issues with this "Pop Art Productions" logo on them, and I always wondered what it was all about? A quick internet search proved fruitless, so if anyone knows their Marvel history regarding this, I would love to hear it! (shameless plug alert) BTW, if you like the art, it's available in my store along with other high-quality art works.

  1. Cant remember exact issue of Avengers where its in the letter column (somewhere in the 30's maybe?) but essentially they (being Stan the Man) said that they were changing the name from Marvel "Comics" Group to the Marvel Pop Art Productions because they felt it made the books feel more "Mature" and less for kids than they did if they called them "comics". Evidently they had people complaining. Well we see how well that worked :)

    1. I always wondered why they added the pop art title, but couldn't find any info anywhere. I always liked it because comics ARE pop art. I still want to get four individual canvases of these to put side by side (even though I have no more room in my man-child cave)
